In a sudden turn of events on Saturday night around 11 pm, a CNG gas leak occurred at the Newtown Kalbariya petrol pump, creating a tense situation for both authorities and onlookers. Sources report that the leak transpired during the unloading process, triggering the release of CNG gas and subsequent smoke.
Swift action was taken as the fire department was promptly notified, leading to the arrival of three fire brigade vehicles at the scene. Firefighters successfully brought the situation under control within half an hour, preventing further escalation. The Techno City police station also responded to the incident, contributing to the management of the chaotic scene. As a precautionary measure, power to the petrol pump was cut off.
